Peerberry
PeerBerry is a marketplace where investors buy claims on loans issued by non-bank lenders. It started in 2017 under a Latvian company and has been run since October 2021 by PEERBERRY d.o.o. in Zagreb, which is the company investors contract with, while the team works from Vilnius. The lenders are companies of the Aventus Group and the Gofingo Group together with a few Lithuanian project companies, and they issue short and long-term consumer loans, leasing, business loans and real estate loans. Each claim carries a buyback obligation owed by the lender that sold it, switched on per claim in the assignment agreement and triggered once a borrower is more than 60 days late. The two groups have also signed cross-corporate guarantee memoranda, but that guarantee runs between the group companies and is executed at the owner's discretion, not on an investor's demand. Claims can be sold to other users on a secondary market.
