Debitum
Debitum is a Latvian P2P investment platform, launched in 2018 and operated by SIA "DN Operator" from Riga. Investors buy asset-backed securities and notes rather than direct loan claims. Latvijas Banka licensed the operator as an investment brokerage firm under MiFID II on 21 September 2021 under licence 06.06.08.728/537 and added portfolio management on 4 December 2024. The licence brings investor compensation of up to 20,000 EUR for irreversibly lost financial instruments. Offers come from business loan originators in Latvia, Estonia and the United Kingdom and from note issuers investing in Latvian farmland and forest land. The securities are issued by Debitum's own SIA DN Funding vehicles at the operator's Riga address, and one of the active loan originators, SIA Sandbox Funding, has the same beneficial owner as the operator, Ingus Salmiņš, and the same registered address. Many instruments carry a buyback obligation from the loan originator, but it is set per issue in the Offer Document and Final Terms, does not apply to every instrument, and stays with the originator or the issuer instead of being assigned to the investor. There is no secondary market: instruments are held until they mature or the issuer settles them.
