Ventus Energy
Ventus Energy is a renewable energy lending platform operated by Ventus Energy Group OÜ, registered in Estonia in 2024 and opened to lenders in September of that year. Its team and all of its power plants, bar one Lithuanian wind park, are in Latvia. It is not a marketplace: lenders do not fund third-party borrowers but lend to the group's own project companies, which build and run cogeneration plants, solar parks, wind parks and battery storage in Latvia and Lithuania. The loans are mezzanine debt ranking behind senior lenders and banks, with no buyback obligation and no secondary market. The platform stopped normal operations on 11 June 2026: interest payments were suspended, early exit was frozen and payouts were blocked. BaFin had ordered the company on 5 May 2026 to cease and wind up its unauthorised deposit business in Germany, and the Austrian FMA issued an investor warning on 24 June 2026. On 18 August 2026 the Harju County Court in Estonia opened restructuring proceedings over the company under case number 2-26-16225. Its 65 percent shareholder and board member, Jānis Timma, is also the sole owner and sole board member of Crowdestor OÜ, which runs the Crowdestor platform.
