Quanloop
Quanloop runs a group of non-public limited-partnership funds in Tallinn, Estonia. An investor joins one of the funds as a limited partner and then lends it capital as a subordinated loan, in units of one euro, each concluded for 24 hours and rolled over until the investor asks for the money back. That loan cannot be sold or transferred, and in a liquidation it is paid after the fund's other creditors; because the funds are not public funds, the investor protection rules for public funds do not apply to them. The fund does not lend to businesses itself: it holds units in other funds of the Quanloop group, which in turn lend to companies. The funds are managed by Osaühing QFM, registered with Finantsinspektsioon on 22 January 2018 as a small fund manager without an activity licence, which by law means supervision is limited to the registration duty and the reporting obligations. Investors spread their money across risk plans instead of picking individual loans.
